The Museum of the City of New York hosted its Winter [Basket]Ball gala where attendees enjoyed cocktails on the terrace, a seated dinner, and previewed the exhibition City/Game: Basketball in New York alongside basketball legends. Guests also enjoyed a performance by BOUNCE – the Basketball Opera, which uses basketballs to create interactive music and dance. Whitney Donhauser, Ronay Menschel Director and President of the Museum of the City of New York, thanked guests for their support.Young professionals attended the “Post-Game Party” with dessert, dancing, and basketball-themed arcade games.
Notable guests included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Naismith Hall of Famer, New York native, and six-time NBA Champion), and Owen D. Thomas (President and Director, Boston Properties) – both Gotham Icon Award Inaugural Honorees; the evening’s host, ESPN anchor Michael Eaves; legendary NBA and WNBA players including Bernard King (Naismith Hall of Famer, Brooklyn native & former Knicks & Nets player); Allan Houston (former Knicks player), Kiki Vandeweghe (Former Knicks player and former Nets coach); Teresa Edwards(Naismith Hall of Famer & WNBA Legend); Felipe Lopez (former NBA player and Bronx native); Sam Perkins (former NBA player and Brooklyn native); Albert King (former NBA player and Brooklyn native) Andre Barrett; (former NBA player and Bronx native); and other luminaries including Rich Kleiman (Kevin Durant’s manager); Bill Rhoden (sports journalist); James Dinan, founder, York Capital Management; William Vrattos, chairman of Museum of the City of New York's Board of Trustees; as well as Whitney Donhauser, Ronay Menschel Director and President of the Museum of the City of New York, to name a few.
