Sōrate, a traditional Japanese Teahouse founded in 2020 by Italians Silvia Mella and Nicola Zanatta, celebrated the preview of its second New York City location in Flatiron.
Designed by Venice-based studio AMAA, the new space embodies a dialogue between the meditative spirit of Japanese teahouses and the dynamic energy of Manhattan, with materials sourced directly from Japan.
During the preview event, guests enjoyed premium Matcha and sake by Havensake, paired with hors d’oeuvres and bonsai-shaped matcha chocolates crafted by award-winning pastry chef Giuseppe Zito. A highlight of the evening was a glimpse of a traditional tea ceremony led by Sōrate’s mentor and tea master, Keiko Kitazawa.
