Scores of guests gathered recently to celebrate Pritzker Prize-winning Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza, whose first project in the United States is underway at 611 West 56th Street. Members of Portugal's cultural elite, including the Portuguese Embassy General Consul Maria de Fatima Mendes, as well as notable art curator Guta Moura Guedes and Miguel Goulao were in attendance. The event also included the unveiling of a custom 16-foot bench designed by Álvaro Siza that will be showcased in the building.
