SailGP, the world’s most exciting racing on water, made its highly anticipated return to the Big Apple, kicking off the summer with the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix.
A sold-out crowd of nearly 10,000 spectators on land and sea waved their national flags while weathering the wet conditions to cheer on their teams. Set against the New York CIty skyline, 12 elite national teams battled head-to-head in identical F50 hydrofoiling catamarans. The Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix thrilled fans with seven action-packed, 12-minute fleet races over the two days, with the Spain SailGP Team winning, marking its second consecutive win after the Oracle San Francisco Sail Grand Prix in March.
VIP guests inside the exclusive Adrenaline Lounge—the equivalent of the F1 Paddock Club—included DJ Khaled, SailGP’s Chief Hype Officer; Colombian superstar J Balvin; Formula One champion and German SailGP Team co-owner Sebastian Vettel; Saturday Night Live cast member Devon Walker; former NBA Player Jeremy Lamb; Catfish host and producer Nev Schulman; Tony- and Grammy Award Winner Patina Miller, who performed the National Anthem; TV personality T.J. Holmes; Award- nominated journalist Amy Robach; and CNN television personality Kaitlin Collins.
