Palm Beachers kicked off art weeks in Palm Beach and Miami with an opening fete with Young Friends of the Norton for artist Gemma Gené and her solo show, A Few of My Favorite Things. Curated by New York’s Voltz Clarke Gallery and on display at The Colony Hotel, the show debuted Gené's large scale photorealist canvases focusing on a wide range of objects wrapped in reflective paper.
Gené aims to transform mundane objects into euphoric expressions through her meticulously precise technique, playful use of reflections and distortions, and ability to blur the boundaries between 2D and 3D. Also in attendance was Gené's famous pug Mochi, who stars in a well loved series of comics Gené authors for Instagram.
Guests indulged in mini lobster rolls and cucumber & avocado soup from The Colony’s new Executive Chef, Tom Whitaker.
