Kicking off New York’s spring social season, American Ballet Theatre celebrated its annual Spring Gala dinner and performance at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, presented by Harry Winston. The evening attracted a number of New York’s finest including longtime supporter of ABT, actress Katie Holmes, who dazzled in a floral print dress paired with Harry Winston white diamond jewelry.
Alec Baldwin, who made his first appearance since welcoming a son, was joined by Sting and Trudie Styler and Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons. Style icon Olivia Palermo and husband Johannes Huebl enjoyed the perfect date night along with lifestyle blogger Athena Calderone and husband DJ Victor Calderone. Designer Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti, Brian Atwood and husband Jake Deutsch, Milly designer Michelle Smith and Carly Cushnie of Cushnie et Ochs also attended the fête.
Additional notable attendees included Spring Gala Chairs, Sarah Arison, Emily and Len Blavatnik and Sutton Stracke, Co-Chairs Amy Astley, Hamish Bowles, Malcolm Carfrae, and Anh Duong, as well as Amy Fine Collins and TV personality Star Jones.
The evening featured three world premieres highlighting ABT’s world-renowned dancers; a performance of AFTERITE by Wayne McGregor, set to Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, a pièce d’occasion by Michelle Dorrance, choreographer and MacArthur Foundation Fellow, and excerpts from Harlequinade by Alexei Ratmansky, a recreation of Petipa’s commedia dell’arte masterpiece from 1900. Following the performance, guests enjoyed a multi-course dinner and dancing to music by DJ Coleman at The Promenade at the David H. Koch Theater.
