At The Brand Guild, we craft and tell the stories of some of the nation’s top purpose-driven brands, such as Sweetgreen, The Bouqs and Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. We are a fully integrated team that specializes in brand evolution. We are seeking a driven leader with 9+ years of experience who is eager to grow our agency. The Business Development Director will lead new business efforts for the agency and will be a fundamental part of our overall growth. They will work closely with the VP of Strategy and the Strategy & Growth team to elevate our company offerings and identify new opportunities for The Brand Guild. This role will also manage the Business Development Assistant. 

While the Business Development Director will own the inbound and outbound new business efforts at the agency, we are not looking for just any new client or project. We are seeking a leader who can internalize our ideal client profile of mission-driven consumer brands with a growth mindset, ensuring our evaluation process results in work that aligns with our business goals and philosophy. 

This position will be responsible for developing long-term business growth strategies as we continue to emerge as a top national integrated agency. Requirements:

- You have a passion for building and sharing The Brand Guild story. You believe in our method and showcase a deep knowledge of our integrated approach to working with clients from startup to growth phase. 

- You confidently communicate our company vision and key differentiators to all prospects, from founder to brand manager, and can build deep relationships. 

- You can identify and explore new business opportunities to maintain a pipeline of prospective clients to reach our annual business objectives across our agency’s expertise (Public Relations, Marketing, Paid Media, Creative, Events, Strategy, Social Media & Content).

- You can independently develop and deliver custom proposals and presentations and lead them through to the contract phase.

- You can work collaboratively with department heads to ensure the best teams and capabilities are being utilized and represented as we craft innovative solutions for prospective clients.

-  You will frequently lead and attend in-person/virtual prospecting and pitch meetings with a collaborative, long-term, relationship-based approach to selling.

- You can effectively oversee the handoff of new business processes to the account team, as well as the internal and external onboarding of new clients. 

- You are passionate about industry and client category trends and regularly integrate insights, thoughts and key findings into your new business outreach.

Minimum qualifications:

-  9+ years of experience (experience in business development, agency or startup preferred)

- Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills

- Effective communication and negotiation skills

- A passion for business, innovation, and consumer brand trendsAbility to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Project management skills that allow management of multiple projects at once, including evolving timelines and priorities
