Philadelphia's Paradigm Gallery celebrated its new, permanent home in Old City with a Grand Opening.
After 13 years of renting in South Philly, Paradigm drew over 1,500 visitors out to the new space with a line wrapping around the block, even on Good Friday. The 7,000 sq. ft., 5-story building was purchased by Paradigm founders Sara McCorriston and Jason Chen in Fall 2022. In addition to serving as the gallery’s new home, the mixed-use commercial space will actualize McCorriston and Chen’s mission to further grow and contribute to the arts and culture landscape of Philadelphia.
Guests celebrated the evening with lite bites from Café Tolia and toasted with special hand-crafted cocktails from Tattooed Mom, Dimi, Evil Genius Brewing, and Two Robbers.
For its inauguration, the two-floor gallery space presented two solo exhibitions by artists with Philadelphia roots.
- On the first floor, Nazeer Sabree’s debut solo exhibition Pursuit of Healing, curated by Ginger Rudolph of HAHA Magazine, explores the process of healing from the artist’s perspective. Rudolph’s curation is informed by her intimate understanding of Sabree’s practice, having mentored the artist since 2020 in the Philadelphia Mural Arts Fellowship for Black Artists Program.
- The second floor presents Jason Andrew Turner’s gestural, process-based practice and its surface applications from furniture to textiles. Welcome Homehighlights Turner’s collaborations with Philadelphia artists and designers, as well as Paradigm’s commitment to nurturing and showcasing innovative crossovers between creative disciplines.
